Frequently Asked Questions

Gourmet Express Personal Chef Service answers all of your questions!

Why does the chef meet with us in our home before starting the service?

The chef meets with you in your home to go over the food questionnaire in person, to give an idea of how much room is needed for storage in your refrigerator and freezer, and to make sure that the stove, oven and sink all work correctly.
How much does the service cost?

The cost of the home meal replacement service will vary depending on the number of meals being prepared, your dietary restrictions and preferences, and where you live in the Metroplex.

Does the price include groceries?

The price of the service has a set service fee (given to you at the time of the initial in-home interview) plus the cost of the groceries.

What are the chef’s qualifications?

The chef has a B.S. in Business Administration, a Diploma in Culinary Arts, and a Certificate in Catering and Gourmet Cooking. The chef also carries a ServSafe certification food protection.

How long will the chef be at my home?

The chef is normally at your home between three and five hours.
Where does the chef get the recipes?

Most of the recipes that are used are from the United States Personal Chef Association. These recipes have been tested in their kitchens to hold their quality after they have been frozen and thawed out before being reheated.

All other recipes are tested by the chef before making it for you.

Where does the chef shop for the food?

Most of the ingredients used are purchased at Central Market. If a specific ingredient is not carried by Central Market, there are specialty shops that carry the remaining ingredients.

Why does the chef cook in my home?

Due to city regulations all food must be prepared in the client’s home to consider the business a service. If the food were prepared at another building, that building would have to comply with all city regulations for food preparation.
